China, Brazil and India will likely all be in the top 10 in total households with wealth over $30 million per household within the next decade.

Singapore is likely by 2020 to have the highest percentage of households with a net worth of $30 million US dollars.  The percentage of households in Singapore with $30 million or more net worth is expected to be 1.82% of the total households.   This percentage is well above other leading countries including Switzerland, Hong Kong and the United States.

Los Altos Real estate update for 5/20/11 from the multiple listing service.

Total Active single family home listings – 67

Total under contract (pending) – 38

Sold (Closed) in the last 30 days – 27.  Of those sold the average square footage was 2,637 with an average lot size of 12,887 and an average sale price of $1,837,570.
The average age of those homes is 42 years old.   Multiple offers are being received on some homes.

Hong Kong will likely have the highest density of wealthy by 2020 with 47% of the population
holding more than $1 million in wealth – followed by Singapore at 37% and Switzerland with 24%.

Good morning  – it is Tuesday morning (May 17th).  There are 56 homes for sale in Los Altos Hills on the multiple listing service.  Prices range from $1.3 million to just over $20 million dollars.  There are 12 properties currently pending (under contract).  9 properties have closed escrow in the last 30 days.  Sale prices ranged from $1.45 million to about $3.9 million.  Average dollars per square foot for homes in Los Altos Hills varies widely – but you can use $730 as a rough average.  Price per square foot is an inaccurate measure for homes in Los Altos Hills – evidence of this is that dollars per square foot ranged from $431 per square foot to $3088 per square foot.

California will likely have the highest numbers.

China will continue to be the driving force in rate of growth of the wealthy followed by Brazil (emerging market)
and Russia (emerging market).  The US and Europe will continue to be the centers of wealth in the next decade.

households- it will grow from $92 trillion this year to $202 trillion in 2020.
